Navigating RollCall - Icons
RollCall is meant to be a simple app that gets you where you need to go quickly and easily. Learning your way around RollCall means learning a few key icons in addition to the terminology.
The calendar icon takes you to the main instruction section. The default landing page is the calendar, but you can also get to active courses (anything with an end date in the future) and all courses (any course that began this year and goes into the future.) Active courses and all courses show session and roster information, and allow you to enroll a student.
The gear icon takes you to the administration section. The default landing page is course creation, where you can also see and bulk edit sessions, get to the roster, or enroll a student. The admin section also contains holiday settings and color settings.
The looking glass icon takes you to the course search. You can search for any course from any time, search by name or instructor, enroll a student, or see the course roster for any course.
The cloud icon takes you back to Salesforce. If you are in Salesforce Classic, you can jump between your regular Salesforce view (including reports) and RollCall by clicking this icon and clicking the "RollCall App" tab to get back. If you are using the Lightning Experience, you are already in your regular Salesforce view and this icon will take you to your homepage.
The exit icon logs you out of Salesforce entirely.
The grid icon, which is visible on the Active Courses, All Courses, and Course Admin screens, will give you an overlay screen with all sessions for the course. Note that if you have access to the admin section of RollCall, this icon will take you to an editable grid where you can bulk change sessions.
The people icon, which is visible on the Active Courses, All Courses, and Course Admin screens, will take you to the Course Roster page. The Course Roster is a list of all students currently enrolled in this course, with contact information.
The add person icon takes you into the student enrollment process.
The lock icon lets you switch a grid from view only to fully editable. Look for it in the upper left hand corner of screens that you may want to bulk edit.
The select all checkbox is available on all editable grids. You can choose individual records, or select all. The double gears icon lets you bulk edit the column. Click on the double gears to change the column's value for all selected items.
